How To Get Pregnant - The Signs Of Ovulation

Getting pregnant is a little trickier than just getting together with your special someone. Just like a lot of other areas in life, when trying to get pregnant, timing is everything. To successfully conceive, it helps to know when you ovulate.

Ovulation is when your ovary releases a ripened egg in the middle of your cycle. Once you know your pattern of ovulation, you can time your love-making so it happens a few times shortly before you ovulate.

There are actually a few methods you can use to help predict when you are going to ovulate, and they don't cost you a thing. Yes, it is true that they have ovulation kits at the store, but they are expensive, especially if you need more than one.

By taking the time to learn a few skills, you'll be able to predict when you ovulate with accuracy and it won't cost you more than a few moments of your time.

The easiest method is counting the days on the calendar. If your cycle is the same every month this method will give you a decent chance of conceiving. For example, on average, women's cycles are about 28 days in length. (Yours may vary... it may be slightly shorter or longer.) With a 28 day cycle, most women will ovulate around the 14th day after the first day of their last period.

This is then the optimal time to have sexual intercourse with your loved one. When the conditions are right sperm can live in your body up to five days. This is why it is important at this point to have sex frequently to improve your odds of conception.

There are other measures you can take to also help with this. One is to take your basal body temperature. Do this before you do anything else. Begin the charting just as your period starts. When ovulating your temperature increases. Keep track of this overtime and you will begin to see a pattern that will better help you to get the timing right.

To conclude be diligent in your charting to improve your odds of conception.
